The Project
We are embarking on the journey of a lifetime to the bottom of the highest mountains in the world
Inspired by the mountains and those that climb them our family of four are on a mission to conquer the 14 basecamps of each 8000m mountain. With this comes multiple world-record attempts – the youngest person, the first child under 18 and the first family to complete this endeavor as well as potential many others.
The challenge, taking over five years to complete, will see us trek an estimated 1100 km with our children.

Who are we?

John

Martina

Ben

Will
Our family of four has a blend of British and Slovakian roots. We, John and Martina, first met in the breathtaking New Zealand Alps, and our love affair with the mountains has continued. It has even filtered down to our boys, born in 2012 and 2015, who now join us on our expeditions! Fueled by wanderlust, our careers in education afford us the privilege of having long holidays in which we travel the globe. The mountains, our favorite places to travel, have been witness to our boys’ growth, conquering the demanding trails of the Alps, Tatras, Celestial, Pamir Mountains, and more.
The Plan
Inspired by Nirmal Purja’s 14 Peaks Netflix documentary, our family of four are on a mission to conquer the 14 basecamps of each 8000m mountain. With this comes multiple world-record attempts – the youngest person, the first child under 18 and the first family to
complete this endeavour as well as potential many others.

Our Chosen Cause.
The Nimsdai Foundation
With the project inspired by Nirmal Purja, it’s
apt that our search for a charity to support led
us to the Nimsdai Foundation
(www.nimsdaifoundation.org). Nims’ unwavering belief is that with the right attitude and a determined pursuit for excellence, “nothing is impossible.” His aim is to inspire everyone to achieve a new possible and to educate, to better inform, drive behavioural change and increase the health and equality of future generations.
His endeavours resonate with us as educators. We are excited to help raise awareness and valuable funds for his cause. Our goal is not a number, our goal is to help as much as we can.

Why The Nimsdai foundation?
Respect, Educate & Protect
We have decided to support the Nimsdai Foundation whose aims and goals resonate with our own as they look to improve the lives of the people in the Himalayas through empowering the next generation and committing to Respect, Educate & Protect the environment.
As educators ourselves, we are committed to working with the foundation to raise awareness and support efforts that bring meaningful, sustainable, and long-term improvements to these children’s lives.
Our goal is to raise £12,000 for the Nimsdai Foundation to fund school scholarships. These scholarships aim to reduce poverty by advancing education in Nepal, Northern Pakistan, and other developing countries, in line with the Foundation’s mission.
