Day 16 – Feeling Ill in Concordia – Trouble on the journey to K2

Today has been anything but active, and I didn’t take a single photo or video—good thing it’s a planned rest day because Martina and I are both too ill to do much. The boys, on the other hand, are full of energy and keeping us in good spirits.

The day has been a write-off, with Martina and me either resting or dashing to the less-than-ideal toilet shared with other groups. Honestly, when you feel like this, all you want is a cozy bed, plenty of fluids, and a real bathroom.
It turns out, according to the camp doctor, that we’ve likely picked up a parasite. We suspect it came from the loo rather than food or water, as the boys are just fine. Stomach bugs are apparently common on this trek, so we’ve been given antibiotics and told we should feel better in 24 to 48 hours—fingers crossed.
The snow and wind returned today, which, along with our current state, makes this day incredibly tough. Now we’re left wondering if it’s worth pushing on to the next two base camps or if we should consider turning back.
