Random camp to Goro 2 – 9 hours of hiking
After the high of reaching 4 out of 14 base camps, waking up to more snow made this morning hard. The novelty of snow has completely worn off, and knowing we had a tough hike ahead in slippery conditions didn’t help. Snow continued through the morning, making each step treacherous and slowing our pace.
A few hours in, we reached Concordia, but it was still early—only 9 a.m. Chaos unfolded in camp with two groups packing up and heading in different directions. As we prepped to hike back along the route we came, another group was heading toward the Gondogoro Pass. Mules, porters, and bags filled the area as camps were shut down.
After a brief snack, we pushed onward, aiming for Goro 1 but slowed by snow-covered terrain, we realized we’d have to stop at Goro 2. By then, the sun had returned, and the snow melted, but we soon found ourselves cold again as the weather turned.

Once in Goro 2, we arrived to a chilly, windy camp—no lunch, and camp wasn’t even ready. John stepped in to help pitch tents again. It’s getting tough, and our patience is wearing thin, but we’re still taking in the scenery. With snow-capped peaks, these mountains are breathtaking. Despite everything, seeing massive avalanches in the distance today was humbling—the sound alone makes you feel tiny.
