5 hours hiking, 1 hour by jeep
Our last day hiking the Karakorum!
We weren’t sure if we’d be hiking all the way back to Askoli or catching a jeep for the final stretch. To beat the heat, we set out early and made good time to Jula Camp, where we took a quick break.
Fortunately, a jeep was available to take us. What a ride! The “road” was more of a narrow track running dangerously close to a fast-moving river. Martina was gripping tightly, not a fan of the heights or precarious drops, but the boys loved every second, cheering and holding on as the jeep bounced along the path.
After an hour of adrenaline-filled driving, we were dropped at the National Park entrance, leaving a final one-hour hike into Askoli.
We made it—21 days trekking the Karakorum, four base camps achieved, and countless memories.
